PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 25, 1999--News from Echelon Corporation, (Nasdaq:ELON) (January 20, 1999) the developer of LonWorks(R) networks has outlined a transition for Motorola from the manufacturer of the Neuron Chip to a provider of system solutions by embedding the LonWorks protocol into other processors.

As well, Echelon has joined with Cisco Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CSCO) in the Cisco NetWorks Program to create a new family of Internet Protocol (IP) to LonWorks connectivity products.

These two announcements directly affect ALYA (OTC BB:ALYA) in that as a provider of an application for LonWorks networks (ALYA's Advanced Security Management System) ALYA benefits from the increased exposure of LonWorks and the growing standardization of LonWorks into building automation.

The Cisco and Echelon agreement is the next step in the companies' development of standards and technologies for enterprise-wide integration of control and data networks in commercial buildings, factories, utilities, homes and other areas. By connecting control and data networks, businesses will be able to lower costs and increase efficiency.

The Cisco NetWorks Program was created to accelerate the global availability of a new generation of low-cost, easy-to-use Internet devices that can transparently plug into any IP network. Echelon's internationally recognized LonWorks system provides a standard for integrating intelligent devices into network solutions. The products to be developed by Echelon and Cisco will extend the power of the Internet from computers to the devices, allowing people to access, monitor and control almost any device anytime, from anywhere.
