ALTA Welcomes C.R. Laurence as CSL User; Glass Industry Supplier Moves to New Middleware Solution.

C. R. Laurence Co., Inc., Los Angeles, California, has chosen Client Server Link (CSL) middleware to replace Remote Server Call (RSC) in its Compaq NonStop(TM) Himalaya environment. Although RSC had satisfied their needs for the past few years, CSL, the fastest middleware technology for the Himalaya platform offered them a more cost-effective solution that's also easy-to-implement and maintain.

CSL is being used in approximately thirty business - critical applications at the company. C.R. Laurence is a leading supplier to the glazing, industrial, construction, and automotive industries, with a strong online ordering presence. The conversion of all the applications from RSC to CSL took place at the same time C. R. Laurence upgraded from the NonStop(TM) Himalaya K-series to the Himalaya S-series, the fault tolerant IT platform that provides the most power and scalability today. According to Dave Scott, vice president of MIS at C. R. Laurence, "We were able to move the applications to our new environment with very little effort. In addition, CSL costs us less than RSC and does the same job better and faster." Not only does CSL handle C. R.
