Featuring an introductory price of $13,995, the ALR Revolution 6X6 delivers 43 percent more performance than competitively priced four-way designs. The Rack-Mountable ALR Revolution 6X6, which offers support for leading-edge high availability Also called "RAS" (reliability, availability, serviceability) or "fault resilient," it refers to a multiprocessing system that can quickly recover from a failure. "This introductory offer delivers a very aggressive price/performance ratio in the four-way server market where ALR has held its market position as the third leading provider of four-way Pentium Pro shipments worldwide," said Genny Ortegon, ALR's vice president of marketing.

"The delivery of this product further affirms the ALR Revolution 6X6 as the premiere server platform delivering up to 43 percent more performance and significantly lower cost per transaction."

For an even higher return on server investment, ALR also offers the ALR Revolution 6X6 Model-A, featuring more extensive hardware offerings and high-availability features than a comparably priced $14,995 Compaq ProLiant 5000 quad processor-based model. The floor-standing ALR Revolution 6X6 Model-A comes fully equipped with support for up to six 200-MHz/512-KB Pentium Pro processors, 128-MB of ECC RAM, 16X CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc.

Fail-Over And Auto Recovery System Monitors Network Pulse

Like all ALR Revolution Series Pentium Pro-based servers, the ALR Revolution 6X6 is managed by InforManager, ALR's integrated server management solution that utilizes over 30 sensors to monitor key system operational data. This information is relayed to an LCD display, giving network administrators the opportunity to address system problems before they lead to costly server downtime and component damage.

InforManager also supports local and remote software monitoring via Windows NT, Novell NetWare, and SCO UNIX applets.

A key component of the ALR InforManager is ActiveCPR(tm), a CPU fail-over and auto recovery system that protects a multiprocessor-based server environment from potential processor failures and software crashes, maximizing network performance and system uptime.

In addition, ActiveCPR offers a "Server Watchdog" function that polls processor activity based on user-defined parameters. In the event of a software crash, ActiveCPR can automatically reboot To reload the operating system, which restarts the computer. See boot.

Geared towards capacity-intensive business applications such as multidimensional databases, corporate users benefit from ALR Revolution 6X6's data storage extensive capabilities. To address a variety of storage options, the ALR server features 14 storage bays, including six Quick Hot-Swappable (QHS QHS Quincy High School (Massachusetts)
