(1 -- color) The same equipment is used for Downhill, Giant Slalom, Super-G and Slalom. The use of a helmet is mandatory for protection. Poles are curved, light, rigid and composed of aluminum or composite fibers for minimal wind resistance. Skiers wear a form-fitting suit made of synthetic fibers for good air penetration while providing complete freedom of movement.

The skier must be in a standing position with his knees slightly bent and feet held close together. The turn is made aggressively in order to change direction quickly and negotiate the narrow slalom gates.

(2) DEER VALLEY Deer Valley is an alpine ski resort in the Wasatch Range in the Park City area of northern Utah. Deer Valley is for skiers only, as it prohibits snowboarding. During the 2002 Winter Olympics Deer Valley hosted the freestyle moguls and aerial, and alpine slalom events.
