ALPINE CAR AUDIO PRODUCTS TO FEATURE BBE SOUND TECHNOLOGY

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Alpine Electronics Inc., a world leader in car stereo systems, has signed a licensing agreement with BBE Sound Inc., it was announced today by John C. McLaren, chairman of the Huntington Beach-based audio technology company.
Under terms of the licensing agreement, Alpine will be using the BBE Sound audio technology in its line of car audio products.
The BBE Sound process allows loudspeakers to reproduce the original live sound more fully and more faithfully. With BBE circuitry, music has a great live presence and speech intelligibility is markedly improved, according to McLaren.
"Alpine's decision to become a BBE licensee illustrates the growing worldwide awareness for our audio technology breakthrough among leading consumer electronics manufacturers," McLaren added.
In 1988, Aiwa was the first electronics maker to license the BBE technology. International Jensen was licensed to utilize BBE Sound's circuitry in 1991 in its Acoustic Research, Advent, Jensen, NHT and Phase Linear audio lines. Korean manufacturer Goldstar also became a BBE Sound licensee in 1991 for its premium Fantasia audio products. Last year, Teac Corp. joined the growing licensee list for its Teac and Tascam premium products.
