ALPHARMA announces FDA approval of Albuterol Sulfate Syrup.

FORT LEE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--September 27, 1995--ALPHARMA INC. (NYSE:ALO) today announced that its U.S. Pharmaceuticals Division, which manufactures and markets specialty generic pharmaceuticals, has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to manufacture and market Albuterol Sulfate Syrup, 2 mg (base)/5 mL.

Albuterol Sulfate Syrup is the generic equivalent of the prescription branded product Ventolin Syrup. Ventolin Syrup and the equivalent branded albuterol syrup, Proventil , together have a branded market of approximately $22 million.

The Company's U.S. Pharmaceuticals Division plans to begin marketing this product early in the fourth quarter of this year. Albuterol Syrup is the Company's fourth ANDA approval in 1995.
