ALPA Crewmembers at ATA Ratify New Contract.

 (American Trans Air, Inc.) (Nasdaq:ATAH ATAH Antenna Train Angle Horizontal (fighter aircraft targeting) ) is pleased to announce that cockpit crewmembers represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, International The Air Line Pilots Association, International, is the collective bargaining representative for over 64,000 pilots of 41 U.S. and Canadian airlines. ALPA was formed in 1931 and is a member of the AFL-CIO and the Canadian Labour Congress. Its headquarters is in Washington, D.C.  (ALPA) have ratified a four-year contract.

The new contract becomes effective July 1, 2002, and will be implemented over the course of the next few months. Of the 823 crewmembers eligible to vote, 95 percent participated with 80.2 percent casting ballots in favor of the agreement.

"The Company and the Union have worked diligently to arrive at a satisfactory agreement, and we are very pleased with the outcome," said John Tague, ATA President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "This new contract allows ATA and its crewmembers to proactively work together over the next four years to continue to provide high-quality service our customers have grown to expect, while accomplishing the Company's overall business objectives."

ATA is the nation's 10th largest passenger carrier, based on revenue passenger miles. Now in it's 29th year of operation, ATA operates significant scheduled service from Chicago-Midway and Indianapolis to over 40 business and vacation destinations. Stock of the Company's parent company, ATA Holdings Corp. (formerly known as Amtran, Inc.), is traded on the NASDAQ Stock Market Nasdaq stock market
