ALMOND RESORTS REPORTS HIGHER PROFITS.

Almond Resorts and its employees own about 10% of the company's shares; The company, which employs 900 people, will begin construction this summer on a 315-room resort in Negril, Jamaica, which is expected to cost US$38 million. It has shortlisted a number of other Caribbean countries which it is likely to invest in the future, Taylor said; This winter season has been rather weak, says Taylor, reports The Barbados Advocate (January 29, 1999). The Asian crisis, he notes, has affected travel in the countries from which Barbados and other Caribbean destinations attract most of their visitors.
