ALMOND BLOSSOM FESTIVAL TO GO ON, RAIN OR SHINE.

QUARTZ HILL - Despite damp weather, the 52nd annual Almond Blossom Festival The Almond Blossom Festival is an annual arts, social, and entertainment festival held every year on the first weekend of August at Willunga, South Australia, Australia.  will go on this weekend with a parade through downtown, a pet parade and activities in Lane Park.

``We're going for it and it's going to be a beautiful weekend,'' said Jan Tatangelo, festival co-chairwoman with her co-chairman husband, Jim. ``It's going to be a free family event where families can bring their kids and have a great time.''

Visitors to the festival can start off Saturday with a pancake breakfast from 6:30 to 10 a.m. at Lane Park, 5520 W. Ave. L-8. Breakfast is $4 for adults and $3 for kids ages 8 and under.

Beginning at 9:30 a.m. is the traditional children's pet parade sponsored by the Quartz Hill Elementary School elementary school: see school.  PTA PTA or parent-teacher association: see parent education. . Awards and trophies will be awarded in five categories: float, pet and owner, bicycle and rider, horse and rider This article is about the constellation. With more than 300 entries, this will be the biggest pet parade ever.

``I'm just frazzled,'' said Laura Romero, pet parade coordinator. ``We've never had more than 100 (entries).''

The pet parade will proceed up 50th Street West from Avenue M to Avenue L-8. The main parade will begin at 10 a.m. and will follow the same route.

The Almond Blossom Festival, with over 85 vendors, will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Vendors will offer American and ethnic foods, homemade arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts. , raffles, pony rides, and moon bounces.

Entertainment at the festival will include The Bobby-O Band and J.J. Jackson on Saturday, as well as Nuns for Fun and the Quartz Hill Jazz Band on Sunday.
