Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 2003

Simple Freedom, powered by ALLTEL (NYSE:AT), has added the Nokia 3585i wireless phone with features including global positioning system functionality and voice-activated dialing to its service that allows flat-rate nationwide calling with no long-distance charges.

The Simple Freedom Nokia 3585i, priced at $69.82, is available at more than 1,900 Wal-Mart locations across the country and includes a charger, activation guide and $10 of airtime.

"ALLTEL is constantly looking to improve its products and services to better meet customer needs," said Dan Lohr, ALLTEL's executive vice president of sales and distribution. "Simple Freedom customers now have more choices in a service that allows them to control their wireless costs without sacrificing the features they want."

Simple Freedom offers 25-cents-per-minute calling in a network reaching 90 percent of the United States population, but customers can make and receive calls from anywhere in the nation. The service also features voice mail, text messaging, caller ID, call waiting and downloadable ringtones.

With Simple Freedom, there is no contract, no deposit, no credit check and no bill. Customers replenish time by purchasing a refill card at participating Wal-Mart stores or online at www.simplefreedom.net.

ALLTEL is a customer-focused communications company with more than 12 million customers and nearly $8 billion in annual revenues. ALLTEL provides wireless, local telephone, long-distance, Internet and high-speed data services to residential and business customers in 26 states.
