ALLTEL Completes Sale of 20 PCS Licenses in Six States to Verizon.

:AT) today announced it had completed the sale of 20 personal communications services See PCS.  licenses in six states to Verizon Wireless Cellco Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless, owns and operates the second largest wireless telecommunications network in the United States, based on total wireless customers. . The 20 markets have more than 11.4 million potential customers.

States and cities involved in the transaction include: Alabama: Anniston, Decatur, Florence, Gadsden and Huntsville; Tennessee: Chattanooga, Cleveland and Memphis; Missouri: Kansas City Kansas City, two adjacent cities of the same name, one (1990 pop. 149,767), seat of Wyandotte co., NE Kansas (inc. 1859), the other (1990 pop. 435,146), Clay, Jackson, and Platte counties, NW Mo. (inc. 1850). , Poplar Bluff, Jefferson City, Joplin (includes Miami, Okla.), Rolla and Sedalia; Georgia: Atlanta, Athens, Gainesville, Rome and Macon-Warner-Robins; and Kansas: Lawrence.
