ALLTEL COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF TDS HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS

 LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- ALLTEL Corporation (NYSE: AT) announced today that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of TDS Healthcare Systems Corp. of Atlanta, Ga. TDS will operate under Systematics Healthcare Services, Inc., a newly formed subsidiary of ALLTEL's Systematics Information Services.
 Under the agreement, ALLTEL exchanged approximately 2.0 million ALLTEL common shares for all the outstanding shares of TDS' capital stock. ALLTEL expects the acquisition to be anti-dilutive, excluding one-time merger expenses.
 TDS, formerly a privately-held company, serves more than 200 hospitals in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe. Its computer-based electronic record-keeping system makes a patient's history and condition available on-line both at bedside and in the physician's office.
 Systematics, with clients throughout the United States and in 33 countries around the world, provides information processing management, outsourcing services and software to the financial, telecommunications and healthcare industries. The company is the information services subsidiary of ALLTEL Corporation.
