ALLIANCE PROPOSED FOR EDUCATION; BOTH KIDS AND ADULTS NEED MORE PROGRAMS, REPORT SAYS.

Hoping to take education beyond classrooms to residents of all ages and abilities, the Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation has called on area educators and business leaders to forge a tighter alliance and boost lifelong learning Lifelong learning is the concept that "It's never too soon or too late for learning", a philosophy that has taken root in a whole host of different organisations. Lifelong learning is attitudinal; that one can and should be open to new ideas, decisions, skills or behaviors. .

The foundation issued a 21-page report Wednesday, two months after participants in a daylong Community as Campus Forum explored roles in expanding internship and mentoring programs and in providing job training and other continuing education continuing education: see adult education.

 in the quality of education in this region,'' said Marilyn Lippiatt, superintendent of the Oak Park Unified School District Oak Park Unified School District (OPUSD) is a K-12 school district in southeast Ventura County, California, USA.  that seeks ways to improve recreational, educational and other programs in the Conejo Valley.

The report summarized the findings of more than 125 area residents who participated in the September forum. Participants reviewed educational and training opportunities and made recommendations for additional programs, such as computer classes for different levels, summer internship programs and career counseling centers for adults.

 adults interested in changing careers, make school schedules more flexible so students can participate in internships and other programs arranged by businesses or government, and improve communication among educators, business leaders, government officials and others.

The foundation report will be distributed to government agencies and schools and will be available to the public in libraries. The plan will be discussed at a meeting scheduled for Jan. 10.
