The Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
 will honor a group of the region's greatest contributors to the fields of business, education and the arts during the second annual Valley of the Stars Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Saturday.

Hope and Allen will be honored for their contributions to the arts. Hope, of Toluca Lake, has been one of the Valley's most famous residents for the past 60 years. Allen and his wife, Jayne Meadows, are also longtime Valley residents, having settled in Encino over 40 years ago.

Mann will be recognized for his contributions as founder and operator of several technology companies in the Valley, including MiniMed, the leading supplier of insulin pumps for people with diabetes.

Of the top 10 national Advance Placement scholars last year, six students (two-thirds of the nationwide honorees) came from the North Hollywood program.

Economic Alliance officials said that this achievement is a tribute not only to the talented students, but to the dedicated teachers and staff of North Hollywood High School North Hollywood High School, originally called Lankershim High School when it opened in 1927, is a secondary school in North Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. The school mascot is the husky, and the school colors are blue, white, grey.  who strive daily to create an atmosphere of excellence.

The Economic Alliance was established following the 1994 Northridge Earthquake as a public-private partnership involving prominent regional leaders of business, government and education. Its goal is to lead the San Fernando Valley to greater economic prosperity in the new millennium.
