) At a meeting held today, Alliance Forest Products Inc.'s Board of Directors decided to revise the Company's global capital expenditure program in order to synchronize See synchronization.  it with the Company's strategic plan. The amended plan provides for $260 million in additional capital expenditures spread over four years. The new expenditures are allocated to the improvement and modification of existing facilities, especially the paper mills, so that higher grade calendered cal·en·der

 papers can be added to the Company's current product range. Consequently, the total paper production capacity will be increased from 335,000 to nearly 405,000 tonnes per year. It is estimated that the new expenditures will generate in the order of $100 million in additional paper sales over these four years. The Company expects that it will be able to finance these investments with cash generated from operations.

"These investments will help us continue improving our product quality and better meet our clients, expectations," said Mr. Pierre Monahan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Forest Products Inc. "A further benefit of the nearly 70,000 additional tonnes is that we will be able to reduce our production costs, somewhat."

"Each project is subject to specific approval during the fiscal year which the project is scheduled for implementation and to the availability of funds generated by the Company's operations," added Mr. Monahan.
