MedicaLogic, Inc., Hillsboro, Ore., has signed a strategic marketing agreement with 3M Health Information Systems, to integrate Logician(R), MedicaLogic's market-leading ambulatory electronic medical record solution, with 3M Care Innovation software, a suite of care management products that forms a comprehensive computer-based patient record system.

Under the agreement, MedicaLogic and 3M will coordinate delivery of an integrated clinical information system to healthcare enterprises seeking best of class solutions to meet their clinicians' needs.

MedicaLogic's Logician automates clinical workflow within the ambulatory practice environment, providing complete clinical documentation of the outpatient encounter, decision support at the point of care, and streamlined communications with other clinicians and staff.

3M Care Innovation software includes seven expert components that provide the information infrastructure needed to coordinate patient care across the health care continuum. These applications -- the Clinical Data Repository, Healthcare Data Dictionary, Enterprise Master Patient Index, Clinical Workstation Application, Clinical Documentation Application, Clinical Pathways Software, and Alert Management Software -- work seamlessly to integrate data from multiple care locations into individual, longitudinal patient records. They also provide clinicians with expert decision support tools available right at the point of care, where and when they can make a difference in both outcomes and cost.
