See cloud computing and network computer.  technology, demonstrated how its new Speiros technology can help ISPs stand out in an increasingly crowded marketplace late last month at the ISPCON ISPCON Internet Service Provider Convention (The Golden Group, Inc.)  Fall '99 conference in San Jose.

"Our Speiros 1.0 technology can help Internet Service Providers Internet service provider (ISP)

Company that provides Internet connections and services to individuals and organizations. For a monthly fee, ISPs provide computer users with a connection to their site (see data transmission), as well as a log-in name and password.

Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Scott Bayless. "By taking advantage of Speiros technology, ISPs can add a new source of revenue, going beyond content to deliver a range of Java applications and applets to their users and charge on a pay-per-use basis. In addition, ISPs with hosting services can easily expand from hosting to application rental."

Speiros is an all-Java network-computing environment that makes Java applications available on demand across the network, from any server to any client device, regardless of platform or operating system. It allows a user with nothing more than a user ID and a password to gain instant access to applications and files anytime, anywhere, from any Java-enabled computing device.

The ISPCON demo focused on ways ISPs, Web Portal managers, and Application Service Providers (ASPs) can use Speiros to offer customers access to applications and application-based services, such as spreadsheets, database management, and remote file archiving, as well as Web access, email, and personal Web pages. The demo showed how public-domain Java applications and games can be offered free to customers as a value-added courtesy, and also showcased Speiros' built- in usage-metering services, which make it easy to deliver applications on a monthly rental or pay-as-you-go basis Pay-as-you-go basis
