Despite being bothered by a sore shoulder and other nagging injuries, in addition to competing against one of the toughest schedules in Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. With 11 potential Division I college players on the roster, it was easy for guys like Ebbitt to be overshadowed. But his relentless pass rushing and big-play ability were instrumental during Oaks Christian's run to a fourth straight section title and the Div. III state crown. The Texas A&M commit recorded 52 tackles and a team-leading 11 sacks.

One of several two-way standouts for the Lions, Lemmens, who has committed to Florida, helped limit the opposition to two sacks on Jimmy Clausen James Richard "Jimmy" Clausen (born September 21, 1987, in Thousand Oaks, California[3]) is an American football player. He is a quarterback at the University of Notre Dame. . Selected co-defensive lineman of the year by the Ventura County Coaches Association, Lemmens contributed 52 tackles and seven sacks to a defensive unit that surrendered less than nine points a game.

Notre Dame, junior, DE

Already being compared to former Knights and Florida State standout Travis Johnson Travis Johnson (born April 26, 1982 in Sherman Oaks, California) is an American football defensive tackle for the Houston Texans of the NFL. He attended Sherman Oaks Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California. , the All-Serra League first-teamer was an explosive pass rusher, leading Notre Dame with 13sacks. Expected to be one of the state's top recruits next season, the 6-foot-6, 230-pound Horton has already drawn interest from Pac-10 schools.

CASEY MATTHEWS

Oaks Christian, senior, LB

Matthews played a large role in Oaks Christian holding off Cardinal Newman's upset bid, recording 15 tackles in the team's 27-20 victory in the Div. III state championship. The Oregon-bound standout led the Lions and was second in the area with 158 tackles, including 105 solos, highlighted by a 22-tackle effort against Nordhoff. Matthews also had 10 sacks.

Carterplayed a big role in the Patriots allowing a combined 26 points over their final eight games. The Chaminade transfer, an All-City first-team selection by both the section's coaches and L.A. sportswriters, led City champion Birmingham with 128 tackles, including 90 solo. He also added 5 1/2 sacks, six quarterback hurries, a fumble recovery and an interception.

ANTHONY GILDON

Oaks Christian, senior, DB

Gildon opened the season with an interception in seven consecutive games, the longest streak in the area this season. He finished with 10 takeaways, tying him for third in the state and making him a big part of why the Lions scored 13 defensive touchdowns. Gildon added 32 tackles and also caught 20 passes for 420 yards and seven touchdowns.

AUBREY SMITH

Chaminade, senior, DB

Smith expanded his already-impressive repertoire to become one of the top receivers in Southern California, but that didn't prevent the San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  State commit from continuing to make an impact on defense. Smith, who caught 75 passes for 1,344 yards and scored 21 touchdowns, was also among Chaminade's leaders in interceptions and pass deflections.

SHANE HORTON

Notre Dame, senior, DB

Whether it was passing, running or catching the ball on offense, or shutting down an opponent's top threat on defense, Horton loved a challenge. The Serra League's most valuable player seldom left the field, compiling more than 1,700 all-purpose yards and scoring 14 touchdowns, in addition to ranking among the team's leaders in interceptions.
