ALL-ANTELOPE VALLEY: GIRLS' SOCCER.

Byline: - Erik Boal

Highland possessed one of the area's most explosive offensive teams, but it was the Bulldogs' last line of defense that was most instrumental in their success.

Highland goalkeeper Kellie Drenner, previously overshadowed by Quartz Hill's All-Southern Section netminder Alicia Lugo (who decided not to play her senior year), had the spotlight to herself this season, and she responded with a superb performance as the Bulldogs retained their Golden League title.

Drenner made 91 saves, surrendered 12 goals - just three in league play - and recorded 15 shutouts, receiving league MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994. Officially introduced as the TMS320C80, it combines RISC technology with the functionality of four DSPs on one chip.  and first-team All-Southern Section Div. II honors. "I'm excited about what we have coming back on the field next year, but it's not going to be easy to replace Kellie," Highland coach Juan Paolo said. "She's an amazing a·maze

In a 2-1 first-round victory over Canyon of Canyon Country, Drenner made six saves, including four point-blank stops inside 20 yards, as the Bulldogs completed a 9-0-0 home schedule.

"She made three or four saves where I was just shaking my head, wishing we had her on our side," Canyon coach Steve Ladanyi said.
