ALL-ANTELOPE VALLEY: GIRLS' GOLF GOLFER OF THE YEAR ALI ERDMAN, SR., QUARTZ HILL.


Byline: - Dave Shelburne Shelburne, town (1990 pop. 5,871) in Chittenden co., NW Vermont, 7 mi (11 km) S of Burlington on the banks of Lake Champlain. A popular resort, Shelburne is also a center for local lumber and dairy industries.  

Ali Erdman led Quartz quartz, one of the commonest of all rock-forming minerals and one of the most important constituents of the earth's crust. Chemically, it is silicon dioxide, SiO2.  Hill High to its third consecutive Golden League championship, its fifth league title in six years.

The senior, who will play golf next year at UC Riverside, was the regular-season league scoring champion and the winner of the Golden League qualifying tournament for Southern Section postseason play, advancing with teammate Katelin Dilger to the section final at Diamond Bar Golf Club.

A state high jump qualifier in track and field as a sophomore, the athletic Erdman got a late start in golf but progressed rapidly. She stepped up as Quartz Hill's leader this season when two-time Southern Section finalist Dani O'Neil elected not to play high school golf her junior year.

Erdman led the Rebels to a 12-0 league record and 17-3 overall mark.

Erdman, a former gymnast who carries a 4.37 grade-point average, has a career-best high jump of 5 feet, 6 1/2 inches, and she also has cleared 10-6 in the pole vault pole vault
