Housinger came back to win the second Golden League meet and help Highland to the league title. Then he had the highlight of his season at the Mt. San Antonio College Mt. Housinger acknowledged he felt pressure entering the Golden League finals because of his back-and-forth duel duel, prearranged armed fight with deadly weapons, usually swords or pistols, between two persons concerned with a point of honor. The duel may have originated in the wager of battle, an early mode of trial in which an accused person fought with his accuser under  with Lancaster's Irvin Garcia.

RUNNER OF THE YEAR

Caitlin Fitzgerald, Jr., Highland

The season-opening Golden League meet was the first sign this would be a special season for Highland's Caitlin Fitzgerald.

She crossed the finish line 30 seconds ahead of two-time defending Golden champion Brienna Morris. Fitzgerald later acknowledged she was shocked by the result.

Although she eventually finished second to Morris in the league, the season only got better for Fitzgerald, who qualified for the Div. I state meet.

She finished fifth in the Div. I/II team sweepstakes at the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational. Her high finish put her on the awards stand with some of the nation's best runners, including two-time Foot Locker Foot Locker, Inc. It is the successor corporation to the F.W. Woolworth Company (“Woolworth’s”).  Championships runner-up Marie Lawrence and Lauren Saylor, who started the season ranked as the state's top Div. I runner.

Fitzgerald braved tough conditions to finished 10th at the Southern Section Div. I final. After waiting out some tense moments, Fitzgerald learned she'd grabbed the final qualifying spot for the state meet. She capped her season with an 18th-place finish at Fresno's Woodward Park Woodward Park (34 acres) is a public park, botanical garden, and arboretum located between 21st Street and 24th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. It is open to the public daily. .
