ALL THE PRETTY MOVIES.Byline: Glenn Whipp Film Critic OK. Know this going in. Last year, sight unseen, I selected these films as My Most Anticipated Movies of 1999: ``The Muse,'' ``Bringing Out the Dead Bringing Out the Dead is a 1999 English language motion picture. It is a dark drama about paramedics shot mostly at night in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan a neighborhood in New York City, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Nicolas Cage, Ving Rhames, John Goodman, and Tom ,'' ``Man on the Moon,'' ``The Wild Wild West'' and ``All the Pretty Horses All the Pretty Horses is a novel by U.S. author Cormac McCarthy published in 1992. Its romanticism (in contrast to the apocalyptic bleakness of McCarthy's earlier work) brought the writer much public attention, spending some time on bestseller charts, earning the U.S. .'' Of those five, the one I like the best was ``All the Pretty Horses.'' It didn't come out last year. So it's with a little trepidation (and a little more thought) that I give you my new and improved list of movies you won't want to miss. Just don't say you weren't warned. DINOSAUR. Could there be a safer bet? Those long trailers shown before ``Toy Story 2'' looked great and Disney has spent something like $200 million on this computer-animated Jurassic tale. It will probably not only be the year's biggest hit, but also a pretty darned darned adj. Damned. Adj. 1. darned - expletives used informally as intensifiers; "he's a blasted idiot"; "it's a blamed shame"; "a blame cold winter"; "not a blessed dime"; "I'll be damned (or blessed or darned or good movie to boot. O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?. The Coen brothers aren't perfect (``The Hudsucker Proxy''), but they usually can be counted on to make pretty interesting movies. With this chain gang comedy, Joel and Ethan have the nerve to take on Homer's ``The Odyssey,'' and something tells me their spin will be twisted, freakish freak·ish adj. 1. Markedly unusual or abnormal; strange: freakish weather; a freakish combination of styles. 2. Relating to or being a freak: a freakish extra toe. and very, very funny. CAST AWAY. Tom Hanks Noun 1. Tom Hanks - United States film actor (born in 1956) Hanks, Thomas J. Hanks hasn't made a bad film in years. Here he reunites with ``Forrest Gump'' director Robert Zemeckis in a realistic tale about what would happen to a man who is stranded on a desert island. And nope, the Professor isn't on hand to help him build all those bamboo contraptions. SHAFT. Yes, it's a remake. But it's got the year's most perfect casting: Sam Jackson as Shaft. I most definitely dig it. ALL THE PRETTY HORSES. Hey, if it was good enough to make my list last year, why not press my luck? Then again, there could be a reason why this film was delayed. Keep your fingers crossed.
