ALL PLAY, NO WORK; Children get stuck into the School's Out! programme of fun.

Byline: Jessica Richards

CHILDREN in Cardiff are rowing their way into summer, thanks to the School's Out! activities enjoyed at Cosmeston Lakes, Lavernock.

Under-eights were having fun at Cosmeston on a trip organised by Cardiff Children's Play Services as part of Cardiff County Council's School's Out! programme.

Some of the fun activities on offer included parachute games, canoeing and climbing the mobile climbing tower which will be making its way around Cardiff this summer.

Working to provide play opportunities for children in Cardiff, Children's Play Services is offering many exciting trips out this summer.

The trip to Cosmeston Lakes was just one of the off-site trips to be made during the holidays and many more camps and outings are planned.

All activities are free and are designed to encourage participation and fun for all the children involved.

Staff co-ordinating the activities pick out play opportunities which they know the children will enjoy. Orienteering orienteering

, mask-making and ball games were just a few of the activities on offer this week.

Children aged between five and 14 can enjoy lots of different play opportunities around Cardiff this summer, giving them a chance to get stuck in to the serious business of play.

There are seven open access play centres around the city, offering activities between 10am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Half-day play schemes are also operating in Cardiff. For more information on the activities planned, call the council's children's play section on 029 2087 3976.

The School's Out! scheme is now in full swing, offering more than 2,700 activities this summer.
