ALL BOOZING RAISES BREAST CANCER RISKS; Boffin's warning to women.

Byline: By Janice Burns

DRINKING any kind of alcohol increases the risk of developing breast cancer, it was revealed yesterday.

Previously there had been conflicting messages about whether different kinds of drink such as wine, beer and spirits were more dangerous than others.

But leading expert Dr Patrick Maisonneuve Maisonneuve may refer to:

They analysed the drinking habits of 70,000 women of various races and asked them questions during health examinations between 1978 and 1985.

By 2004, more than 2,800 of these women had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

They looked at which types of alcohol the women drank, as well as their total intake, and compared that to women who had less than one drink a day.

Researchers found no difference in the risk among women who drank wine, beer or spirits.

Women who drank more than three drinks a day raised their cancer risk by 30 per cent.
