 Indian Museum's seasonal opening are among community events going on today.

Also happening is an AIDS benefit walk starting at 9 a.m. at Lancaster Marketplace, 44950 Valley Central Way.

The Quartz Hill Street Faire and Car Show, presented by the Quartz Hill Chamber of Commerce, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today along a closed-off section of 50th Street West, between avenues M and L.

Soap-box racing will take place along Avenue M between 47 and 50th streets west.

The Antelope Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross American Red Cross: see Red Cross.  will have its Good Stuff Sale from 8 a.m. to noon today at its chapter facility, 2715 E. Avenue P. Items for sale include school supplies, children's toys, bikes, office and home furniture, appliances, lawn equipment, health items and holiday decorations.

The Antelope Valley Indian Museum The Indian Museum was founded by Dr Nathaniel Wallich a Danish botanist at Serampore (originally called Frederischnagore) near Kolkata (Calcutta), India, in 1814. It is a multi-disciplinary institution of national standing and is one of oldest museums in the world.  will celebrate its reopening after its summer hiatus starting at 10 a.m. today and Sunday.

Desert Haven Enterprises will have its 27th annual auction from 4 to 11 p.m. today in the Poppy Pavilion of the new fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground. , 2551 W. Avenue H. Admission to the auction is $40 and includes drinks, a catered dinner, a late-night snack and an auction catalog.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. with dinner served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Palmdale residents can rid their households of hazardous and electronic waste from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today in the parking lot next to the Youth Library, 38510 Sierra Highway.

Acceptable items include brake fluid, paint, pesticides, pool chemicals, batteries, old televisions, computers and monitors.

The AIDS walk will benefit the Lancaster-based Catalyst Foundation, which provides AIDS education and gives medical care and other services to AIDS and HIV-positive people. The walk registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., with the opening ceremonies at 8:30 a.m.
