ALISSSS CAN'T COME HOME; OWNER SEEKS AID PAYING FEE.

Angus Johnson is too short on cash to bring his Chihuahua-eating snake back to Los Angeles. He's seeking donations via the World Wide Web, but he's still coming up short after accepting offers from three anonymous donors - and rejecting one from a porn star.

Almost two weeks after the city's animal commission ruled Johnson could have his Colombian red-tailed boa back, the snake is still in exile.

With all the hoopla after Alissss ate Babette the pet Chihuahua in August, Johnson has not been working full time. On top of that, his home was burglarized recently and he's behind on some bills, Johnson said.

Although he won the right Sept. 29 to bring the snake back to his West Hills home, he can't come up with $70 for the required wild animal permit. Or an additional $150 fee required if Johnson wants a permit to take the snake out in public.

The Web page seeks donations to help Johnson pay his bills and fees through the Free Alissss Defense Fund. But the only offer to cover the full costs is from a female porn star who likes snakes, said R. Jeffery Ward, Johnson's attorney.

Fearing it would generate negative publicity, that offer was declined and Ward and Johnson are hoping rock star Alice Cooper - the snake's namesake - might be interested in footing the bill. Johnson, a struggling musician, has played in Alice Cooper cover bands and used Alissss on stage during concerts.

Cooper is best known for songs such as ``School's Out,'' ``Only Women Bleed'' and ``Poison.''
