ALGOR Announces New Subscription-Based Distance Learning.

PITTSBURGH -- ALGOR, Inc., a leading provider of design, analysis and simulation software, announced an all-new subscription-based program for distance-learning Web Courses available starting January 2005. Web Courses are high-quality audio/video productions in which expert instructors provide ALGOR software training. These courses allow engineers to learn the principles of finite element analysis Finite element analysis (FEA) is a computer simulation technique used in engineering analysis. It uses a numerical technique called the finite element method (FEM). There are many finite element software packages, both free and proprietary.  (FEA (Finite Element Analysis) A mathematical technique for analyzing stress, which breaks down a physical structure into substructures called "finite elements." The finite elements and their interrelationships are converted into equation form and solved mathematically. ) and ALGOR software at their computer and at their own pace while avoiding travel costs and time outside the office required with traditional classroom training.

"ALGOR's Web Courses contain a lot of excellent tips and useful information," said Marc Meadows of Meadows Analysis and Design, LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

. "A Web Course on meshing techniques taught me how to save processing time. In addition, I appreciate the capabilities to pause the replay to take notes and to refer back to the course at any time."

"To learn new features of the software, I viewed several Web Courses," said Robert C. Whaley of Naval Sea Systems Command The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) is the largest of the U.S. Navy's five "systems commands," or materiel organizations. NAVSEA consists of four shipyards, eight "warfare centers" (two undersea and six surface), four major shipbuilding locations and the NAVSEA headquarters, . "These are great because I can run them as I work within the software, stopping and starting as needed. This type of training enables me to work and learn at my own pace without having to dedicate a specific time for instruction."

The new subscription-based program provides ALGOR users with unlimited access to over 50 Web Courses and more than 100 hours of content already available with new and updated content added every month. Through the My Resources section of the My Account area of ALGOR's web site, subscribers have 24/7 access to manage their own training needs and learn at their own pace. As an added benefit, ALGOR Web Courses have qualified for Professional Development Hours (PDH PDH - Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy ) in states with Continuing Professional Competency requirements for Professional Engineer license renewal.

"The new subscription-based, distance-learning program provides our customers with a cost-effective way of gaining access to an extensive source of self-learning materials," said ALGOR Product Manager Bob Williams. "Distance learning lets users earn while they learn because it's available in the office at any time and allows them to increase their engineering expertise and value to their company and customers."

Topics ranging from general finite element modeling and analysis concepts to specific applications for using ALGOR software are covered including the following:

--Getting Started with FEA: Theory and Practical Application

--How to Model Complex Geometries

--How to Set Up and Analyze Impact Problems with Mechanical Event Simulation

--Multiphysics Analysis: Combining Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer

For a complete list of topics, visit the "FEA Web Courses" page of the ALGOR web site. Contact an ALGOR account manager or visit the "Distance Learning" page for more detailed information about ALGOR's distance-learning programs or to subscribe now for unlimited Web Course access at a special introductory rate of $625 available through the end of 2004.
