ALGERIA - Nov. 25 - Senior Al Qaida Member Killed.


The APS news agency says security forces have killed Emad Abdelwahid Ahmed Alwan, a 37-year-old Yemeni citizen and a top Al Qaida official in North Africa, in Batna province Batna (Arabic: ولاية باتنة ) is a wilaya of Algeria. Capital is Batna. Localities in this province include Barika, Merouana and Timgad. , 320 km east of Algiers. APS described Alwan as the "Al Qaida representative for the Sahel region Sahel is one of Burkina Faso's 13 administrative regions. It was created on 2 July 2001 and had a population of 837,420 in 2002. The region's capital is Dori. Four provinces make up the region - Oudalan, Séno, Soum, and Yagha.  and the Maghreb". APS says: "He had been in the Sahel-Maghreb region since June 2001. He travelled from Addis Ababa Addis Ababa (ăd`ĭs ăb`əbə) [Amharic,=new flower], city (1994 pop. 2,112,737), capital of Ethiopia. It is situated at c.8,000 ft (2,440 m) on a well-watered plateau surrounded by hills and mountains.  to Niger via Khartoum". APS says the government troops killed Alwan in an ambush (language) AMBUSH - A language for linear programming problems in a materials processing and transportation network.

 near Merouna in Batna province on Sept. 12, but he was identified only recently after a long investigation by security authorities.
