A living arrangement in which people with special needs, especially older people with disabilities, reside in a facility that provides help with everyday tasks such as bathing, dressing, and taking medication.

In the 17th cent.  care units are seeing construction increases all around the country. The National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing and Care Industry highlighted the leading metro markets in its 2006 "Seniors Housing Construction Trends" report.
