Carney, Jr., as Vice President & Associate General Counsel for the Washington Relations Office of Philip Morris Companies Inc. Mr. Carney will relocate to the Washington, D.C., area, where he will be Government Affairs counsel to the Company, and will report to Murray Bring, Executive Vice President, External Affairs and General Counsel, Philip Morris Companies Inc. Prior to his new position, Mr. Carney served as Senior Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary for the Corporation in New York. He joined Philip Morris in November 1990 and shortly thereafter was elected by the Board of Directors to the position of Assistant Secretary. Before that, he served as Senior International Counsel for Kraft General Foods, a subsidiary of Philip Morris.
