DEFIANT Alesha Dixon yesterday insisted she will not resign as a Strictly Come Dancing Come Dancing is a BBC TV ballroom dancing competition show that ran on and off from 1949 to 1998, becoming one of television's longest-running shows. The show was created by Eric Morley, the founder of Miss World, and began in 1949 by broadcasting from regional judge despite howls of protest from show fans. Thousands of viewers flocked to internet messageboards to criticise Alesha's TV debut as a replacement for Arlene Phillips, with some urging her to step down. But Alesha, 30, said: "I am not a quitter quit·ter n. One who gives up easily. Noun 1. quitter - a person who gives up too easily individual, mortal, person, somebody, someone, soul - a human being; "there was too much for one person to do" . It's not in my nature to consider quitting." And she shrugged off the views of fans who criticised her "odd" comments, saying: "You can't please all of the people all of the time.
