, has been named head football coach at Alemany in Mission Hills.

Bonds, 28, has been the offensive coordinator An offensive coordinator typically refers to the coach on a football team in the National Football League or College football who is in charge of the offense. This position aids the head coach by designing and scripting plays, delegating work to offensive position coaches during  at St. Francis High for the past four years. At Hart, he led the Indians to a Southern Section championship in 1986, then moved on to UCLA, where he was teammates with Bruins quarterbacks Troy Aikman Troy Kenneth Aikman (born November 21, 1966 in West Covina, California) is a former American football quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League, and currently a television sportscaster for the Fox network.  and Tommy Maddox.

He inherits an Alemany program that has struggled to win. But Bonds, who has been trained in the passing game, is expected to use his knowledge and connections to help upgrade the program.

``I think it can be a winning program,'' Bonds said.

``Alemany is very fortunate to get someone of his caliber and his character,'' said St. Francis coach Bill Redell.
