ALBARA (FKA MARIN FUND INC.) REPORTS THIRD QUARTER 1991 RESULTS
CONROE, Texas, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Albara Corp. (OTC) reported gross revenues for the third quarter of $3,472,506 representing a 112 percent increase over third quarter 1990 revenues of $1,630,567. Net income for the quarter totaled $89,328 ($0.106 per share) as compared to $71,568 ($0.089 per share) for the third quarter of 1990. For the nine months ended Sept. 30, 1991, the company's gross revenues were $6,473,121, a 54 percent increase over 1990 revenues of $4,197,384 for the like period. Net income for the first nine months of 1991 totaled $89,542 ($0.107) per share as compared to net income of $101,363 ($0.124 per share) for the like period in 1990. Increased revenues are primarily due to first-time shipments of the RealTech Laser and an increase in add-on computer product sales for the Apple Macintosh computer.
Beginning in May 1991, the company's operating subsidiary, Micro Business Solutions Inc. ("MBSI") began marketing its proprietary laser printer under the name "RealTech(TM) Laser." Significant advance orders were placed by customers totaling in excess of $500,000 as of June 30, 1991. All back-orders for this product were fulfilled by mid-September. Beginning in August, MBSI began marketing its second proprietary laser printer under the name "RealTech(TM) Laser 400." Significant advance orders were placed by customers totaling $670,000 as of Sept. 30, 1991. Since the company does not recognize revenues until product has been shipped, these orders are not reflected in the revenues of the company. However, the company incurred substantial expenses in marketing, advertising and personnel costs associated with generating these orders which are reflected in the company's consolidated general and administrative expenses. When these back- ordered printers ship, their revenue contributions will be $670,000 with a resulting contribution to income before taxes of approximately $140,000. The company expects to begin shipment of its second laser printer in January 1992, and should have all advance orders fulfilled by mid-February 1992.
Albara, through its operating subsidiary, Micro Business Solutions, is engaged in the sale of computer hardware, peripherals and software for the Apple Macintosh computer and specializes in system integration under the trade name "Software and Hardware That Fits."
The common stock of Albara is traded on the over-the-counter market and is listed in the "Pink Sheets" published by the National Quotation Bureau.
