ALASKA AIRLINES BEGINS SERVICE TO FOURTH RUSSIAN CITY -- PETROPAVLOVSK.


SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 1995--Alaska Airlines will begin scheduled passenger service to a fourth Russian Far East Russian Far East, formerly Soviet Far East, federal district (1989 est. pop. 7,941,000), c.2,400,000 sq mi (6,216,000 sq km), encompassing the entire northeast coast of Asia and including the Sakha Republic, Maritime Territory (Primorsky Kray),  city -- Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski -- tomorrow, June 10.

Alaska will fly to the port city of 200,000 once per week using 140-seat McDonnell Douglas McDonnell Douglas was a major American aerospace manufacturer and defense contractor, producing a number of famous commercial and military aircraft. It merged with Boeing in 1997 to form The Boeing Company.  MD-80 aircraft. Service will be nonstop from Anchorage and same-plane one-stop from Seattle.

Seven-day advance purchase round-trip fares from Seattle are $1,192 and from Anchorage are $1,148. Flights in both directions depart on Saturdays.
