ALASKA AIRLINES/HORIZON AIR GO TICKETLESS IN FOUR TEST MARKETS.SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 15, 1995--Starting tomorrow, Alaska Airlines Alaska Airlines, (NYSE: ALK) is an airline based in Seattle, Washington, United States. It operates hubs at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and Portland International Airport. and Horizon Air will begin limited testing of a system that gives travelers the option of flying ticketless when they book flights through the airlines' reservations centers. The ticketless option will be tested in four markets: Seattle-Ketchikan, Seattle-Oakland, Seattle-Spokane and Boise-Oakland. Plans call for systemwide roll out later this fall. The airlines also are working on a plan to make ticketless travel available through travel agencies. Customers who choose the ticketless option when booking will be given a six-digit confirmation number. That number, coupled with picture identification and flight number, is all they'll need to obtain a boarding pass when they arrive at the airport. A letter showing itinerary, fare, confirmation number and any fare restrictions will be sent to customers within three days of booking.
