     ALASKA AIRLINES, HORIZON AIR REPORT OCTOBER TRAFFIC RESULTS
    SEATTLE, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air:
             ALASKA AIRLINES OCTOBER TRAFFIC RESULTS
    Alaska Airlines, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE, PSE: ALK), reported today that its October traffic increased 2 percent to 350.8 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 342.8 million flown a year earlier.  The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare paying passengers) for the month was 47.9 percent, compared to the 48.8 percent in October 1990.
    Capacity during October was 731.9 million available seat miles (ASMs), 4 percent higher than last year's 703.1 million.  The airline carried 425,600 passengers in October compared to 427,100 in October 1990.
    For the 10 months ended October 1991, revenue passenger miles totaled 4.147 billion, an 11 percent increase from the 3.746 billion recorded a year earlier.  The passenger load factor for the 10 months ended October 1991 was 56.9 percent, up from 53.6 percent for the prior year.
    Capacity for the 10 months ended October 1991 increased 4 percent to 7.294 billion, up from 6.982 billion in 1990.  The airline carried 4,932,000 passengers, compared to 4,546,000 in 1990.
           HORIZON AIR'S OCTOBER TRAFFIC UP 20 PERCENT
    Horizon Air, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE, PSE: ALK), reported today that its October traffic increased 20 percent to 37.1 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 30.9 million flown a year earlier.  The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare paying passengers) for the month was 52.8 percent, up from 47.5 percent recorded in October 1990.
    The airline carried 184,541 passengers in October, a 16 percent increase from the 158,494 carried in October 1990.  Capacity during the month was 70.3 million available seat miles (ASMs), compared to 65.1 million in October 1990.
    For the 10 months ended Oct. 31, 1991, revenue passenger miles totaled 333.0 million, a 12 percent increase from the 296.5 million recorded a year earlier.  The passenger load factor for the 10 months ended Oct. 31, 1991, was 51.0 percent, compared to 49.4 percent for 1990.
    Capacity (ASMs) for the 10 months ended Oct. 31, 1991, increased 9 percent to 653.4 million, up from 600.0 million flown in 1990.  The airline carried 1,671,149 passengers through October 1991, up 11 percent from the 1,509,102 in 1990.
