ALASKA AIRLINES, HORIZON AIR REPORT APRIL TRAFFIC RESULTS

 SEATTLE, May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air:
 ALASKA REPORTS APRIL TRAFFIC RESULTS
 Alaska Airlines, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK; PSE), reported today that its April traffic decreased 12 percent to 377.4 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 427.6 million flown a year earlier. The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers) for the month was 56.7 percent, compared to the 55.7 percent in April 1992.
 Capacity during April was 665.6 million available seat miles (ASMs), 13 percent lower than last year's 767.6 million. The airline carried 439,100 passengers in April, compared to 475,400 in April 1992.
 For the four months ended April 1993, revenue passenger miles totaled 1.388 billion, a 17-percent decrease from the 1.673 billion recorded a year earlier. The passenger load factor for the four months ended April 1993 was 51.8 percent, down from the 54.2 percent for the prior year.
 Capacity for the four months ended April 1993 decreased 13 percent to 2.681 billion, down from 3.086 billion in 1992. The airline carried 1,604,000 passengers, compared to 1,857,000 in 1992.
 HORIZON AIR'S APRIL TRAFFIC UP 12 PERCENT
 Horizon Air, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc., reported today that its April traffic increased 12 percent to 38.3 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 34.1 million flown a year earlier. The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers) for the month was 50.6 percent, compared to 46.2 percent recorded in April 1992.
 The airline carried 188,214 passengers in April, a 13-percent increase from the 167,274 carried in April 1992. Capacity during April was 75.7 million available seat miles (ASMs), 3 percent higher than last year's 73.8 million.
 For the four months ended April 30, 1993, revenue passenger miles totaled 153.8 million, a 14-percent increase from the 134.9 million recorded a year earlier. The passenger load factor for the four months ended April 31, 1993, was 52.2 percent, compared to 47.6 percent for 1992.
 Capacity (ASMs) for the four months ended April 30, 1993, increased 4 percent to 294.6 million, up from 283.6 million flown in 1992. The airline carried 748,795 passengers through April 1993, up 14 percent from the 659,760 in 1992.
