ALARIS Medical to Consolidate Instromedix Acquisition in San Diego; Expects Cost Savings and Growth Synergies.

) Monday announced that it plans to consolidate the operations of its Portland-based Instromedix Division into its San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. The company expects to achieve cost savings and consolidation synergies as a result of these changes. In connection with relocation and integration activities, the company expects to incur non-recurring charges of approximately $5 million before related income tax benefits, primarily in the first half of 1999.

The relocation is expected to add about 75 jobs in the San Diego area and to reduce jobs in the Portland area by nearly 100. The company said its first priority is to ensure a smooth transition for employees affected by this change and to minimize any disruption to its customers.
