ALARIS Medical Systems Awarded Four-Year Mandatory Blanket Purchase Agreement by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

: AMI), developer of products for the safe delivery of intravenous (IV) medications, announced today that it has signed a four-year mandatory Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA BPA British Paediatric Association. ) with the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Affairs is a term of the business that deals with the relation between a government and its veteran communities, usually administered by the designated government agency.  (VA) to provide the SmartSite(R) Needle-Free System to 50 States, the District of Columbia District of Columbia, federal district (2000 pop. 572,059, a 5.7% decrease in population since the 1990 census), 69 sq mi (179 sq km), on the east bank of the Potomac River, coextensive with the city of Washington, D.C. (the capital of the United States).  and Puerto Rico Puerto Rico (pwār`tō rē`kō), island (2005 est. pop. 3,917,000), 3,508 sq mi (9,086 sq km), West Indies, c.1,000 mi (1,610 km) SE of Miami, Fla. . The contract extends through Feb. 15, 2008.

The award-winning SmartSite Needle-Free System offers a comprehensive product line, including administration sets, gravity sets, extension sets and components, which help eliminate the need for needles from the IV process and thus greatly reduces the danger of needle stick injuries to caregivers.

This contract continues the relationship between ALARIS Medical Systems and the VA for the SmartSite Needle-Free products, which began in January 2000 with a four-year contract through Feb. 14, 2004.
