 ALAN S. DAWES NAMED EXECUTIVE IN CHARGE OF OPERATIONS FOR
 AUTOMOTIVE COMPONENTS GROUP WORLDWIDE
 PONTIAC, Mich., Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The appointment of Alan S. Dawes as executive in charge of Operations for the Automotive Components Group Worldwide (ACG) was announced today by J.T. Battenberg III, vice president and group executive in charge of the ACG. The appointment is effective Nov. 1.
 Dawes replaces Gerald A. Collins, who was recently named executive in charge/chief engineer, NAO Vehicle Launch Center.
 In his new position, Dawes will have responsibility for all worldwide current and future business planning and coordination of new ventures, administrative and manufacturing facilities, systems marketing, engineering, and technology.
 Dawes joined General Motors as a financial analyst in New York in 1981. After serving in a number of financial staff assignments, he was named manager, overseas borrowings, in 1984, and director, overseas financial analysis later that same year.
 In 1987, Dawes was promoted to general director, treasurer's office, and the following year, was named assistant treasurer for the corporation. In 1991, he was named assistant comptroller of General Motors and transferred to Detroit. In August 1992, Dawes was named assistant finance director for the ACG.
 Dawes holds a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics, and an MBA from Harvard University.
