NEWCASTLE United legend Alan Shearer Alan Shearer OBE (born 13 August 1970 in Gosforth) is a retired professional English footballer who played as a striker for the England national team and Premiership clubs, Southampton, Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United.  enjoyed a round of golf as speculation over his possible future as manager of the Magpies continues.
