AK Steel and the United Steelworkers of America Initiate Discussions.

) to explore topics of mutual interest with regard to the AK Steel facilities where employees are represented by the union. The company said that the meetings have included face-to-face discussions between James L. Wainscott, acting chief executive officer of AK Steel, and Leo Leo, in astronomy

"We have met to offer a new approach for AK Steel and the USWA to discuss and resolve issues that are meaningful to both parties," said Mr. Wainscott. "We are hopeful that together we can forge a new relationship that recognizes the realities of our business while we continue to serve our customers, shareholders, employees and others who rely on our success," he said.

Mr. Wainscott added, "I have appointed a high level team from AK Steel to address and resolve outstanding issues as quickly as possible."
