AJA Video Selects Cypress's HOTLink II Transceivers for Award-Winning Video Solutions.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Cypress Integrated SERDES First to Enable Simultaneous Operation Of SMPTE and DVB-ASI Video Protocols in Professional Video Applications

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY), a world leader in video physical layer devices (PHYs), today announced that AJA Video, an award-winning manufacturer of professional digital video solutions, has selected Cypress's HOTLink II(TM) transceiver (CYV15G0101DXB) for its Standard Definition Serial Digital Interface (SD-SDI) and High Definition Serial Digital Interface (HD-SDI) video interface and conversion products. HOTLink II transceivers are the only integrated SERDES available on the market to enable both SD and HD video applications in a single device.

The CYV15G0101DXB meets both SMPTE 259M (270Mbps) and SMPTE 292M (1.485Gbps) digital television broadcast speeds, as well as the DVB-ASI (270Mbps) video transport standard. In addition, HOTLink II transceivers are compliant with common storage and datacom standards including ESCON, Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet.

Cypress's highly integrated HOTLink II video transceivers are some of the most flexible on the market, offering a wide operating range (0.2 - 1.5Gbps), bypassable 8B/10B encoding, and redundant outputs and selectable inputs. Each HOTLink II device integrates transmit, receive, and bypassable encoder/decoder (ENDEC) functionality in a single-chip solution.

Kona HD is a PCI-based high-definition capture card offering 10-bit uncompressed HD capture and support for applications that run on QuickTime, such as Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects. Kona HD supports most HDTV formats, including 1080i50/59.94/60 and 1080psf23.98/24. At 10-bit color depth, the board requires a 64-bit, 66 MHz PCI slot, but it also supports 8-bit HD formats on standard 33 MHz PCI configurations.
