AIWA launches data products line; company announces series of computer peripherals including CD-ROM drives, fax modems, and PCMCIA cards.


MAHWAH, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 10, 1995--AIWA AMERICA Inc. today announced its entry into the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  multimedia market with a line of computer peripheral products that includes CD-ROM drives CD-ROM drives, which today typically means a CD-RW drive that is a combo CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW drive, come in a variety of speeds. The original drive (1x) transferred data at 150KB per second. , fax/modems, and PCMCIA cards. According to the company the line will be further expanded later this year.

AIWA's initial U.S. product line will consist of a dual-speed CD-ROM drive, a 14.4bps voice/fax/data modem, a portable 14.4bps voice/fax/data modem, and a 14.4bps fax/data modem card for PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association, San Jose, CA, www.pcmcia.org) An international standards body and trade association that was founded in 1989 to establish a standard for connecting peripherals to portable computers.
