Jacada Ltd. (NASDAQ: JCDA) today announced that AIT Worldwide Logistics, a leading transportation solutions provider, has successfully utilized the Jacada Interface Server to re-engineer its legacy computing systems and deploy modern Internet applications to its enterprise users.

Servicing the heavy freight shipping needs of roughly 13,000 customers nationwide, AIT deploys the new applications to both internal and external users to achieve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and provide unrivaled customer service.

To handle the enormous volume of daily transactional data, AIT utilizes an iSeries RPG application, which processes all information regarding the transportation logistics for customer freight shipments. Some of the larger AIT customers formerly accessed the character-based, green-screen application via dial-up lines to create shipments. Prior to the Jacada implementation, information from partners and contractors was manually entered into the iSeries application by AIT personnel. The outcome was delayed shipment status information, resulting in premium rates for last-minute transport alterations.

To accomplish these goals, AIT employed the Jacada Interface Server to make use of core legacy functionality as they built three separate Java applications for three distinct user communities. The Agent Service Center allows AIT's partners to enter shipment updates through the Internet directly into the iSeries application. Internal users access the iSeries through WorldPort, which enables them to perform all types of daily administrative tasks. Finally customers create shipments and monitor status updates through the Electronic Advantage Internet Shipping application. The Jacada Interface Server allows AIT to analyze specific needs of disparate user groups, re-engineer the iSeries application to address these needs, and deploy the customized thin-client interfaces to the user communities.
