is launching a new on line product suite called AIS, designed to allow organisations to web-enable and fully integrate all their disparate IT systems. It is claimed to be the first time one product has been able to offer this, which includes the integration of old Windows systems, often overlooked by many users. AIS took seven years to develop and will, it is claimed, save organisations substantial amounts as they will not have to replace their trusted old systems, re-train employees or implement new systems which can take years. In the current environment of consolidation across many sectors, including a push for e-government (Electronic-GOVERNMENT) A generic term for Web-based services from agencies of local, state and federal governments. Such Web sites provide a wide variety of services to the public and have been extremely helpful in reducing internal paperwork.  and globalisation, it could prove vital to many organisations. It will also allow for more flexible working as all applications will be hosted online and maintain optimum security.

AIS enables any number and variety of mainframes such as ICL (International Computers Ltd., London) The former name of Fujitsu Services, the European-centered arm of the global Fujitsu Group and one of the leading IT services companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. , IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  and Bull to connect and communicate with each other. It can also integrate any legacy system including AS/400, Sun, Unix and McDonnell Douglas McDonnell Douglas was a major American aerospace manufacturer and defense contractor, producing a number of famous commercial and military aircraft. It merged with Boeing in 1997 to form The Boeing Company.  and old Windows and DOS products. It is particularly suitable for public sector organisations such as local authorities or health trusts which have developed their own often insular insular /in·su·lar/ (-sdbobr-ler) pertaining to the insula or to an island, as the islands of Langerhans.

systems over the years, but now need to integrate on a national scale to meet the e-government deadline of 2005.

Multinational organisations will also find it valuable in allowing any member of an organisation, in any country, to access the system and retrieve data. The benefits it could provide to any business considering a merger or acquisition are equally evident and a company could run a call-centre using AIS. www.ndl.com
