AIRTRAN OFFERS $99 FARES AND NON-STOP SERVICE FROM HARTFORD, CONN. TO ORLANDO

ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- AirTran Airways (airline code -- "FL"), an Orlando-based jet airline, has announced plans to begin non-stop airline service between Hartford, Conn., and Orlando, effective Oct. 6, 1994. The airline will fly daily between Bradley International Airport and Orlando.
AirTran said that its fares will be the lowest in the market, and that its pricing structure will be much more simple than most airline's pricing policies. The airline will sell one-way tickets, not require a minimum stay and will not limit the number of low fares on each flight. AirTran said that it is offering a $99(a) one-way fare on every seat, every day to introduce its new service.
"We will be offering customers a simple, inexpensive, and fun way to travel," said Robert D. Swenson, president of AirTran. "Our slogan, 'More Fun, Less Money,' says it all," he said. The airline said that passengers can purchase tickets on the airline from their travel agent or by calling the airline's reservations center at 800-AIRTRAN.
AirTran will operate service with a fleet of 128-passenger 737 aircraft and will begin service to a total of five cities from Orlando in October including Hartford, Conn.; Huntsville, Ala.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Newburgh, N.Y.; and Providence, R.I.
The jet airline is a subsidiary of AirTran Corporation (Nasdaq-NNM: ATCC), a Minneapolis-based aviation company which last year, through its regional airline subsidiary, Mesaba Aviation, Inc., flew over 1.4 million passengers, recorded sales in excess of $120 million and posted its 11th year of profitability in the past 12 years.
