AIRPORT PEACE PLAN CALLS FOR SMALLER NEW TERMINAL.Byline: Sylvia L. Oliande Staff Writer BURBANK - In a gesture to end a decade of dispute, Burbank Airport officials submitted a proposal Monday to replace the 70-year-old terminal with one smaller than they had wanted. Asking city officials to process a new application promptly, the authority board proposed building a 250,000-square-foot replacement that has no more gates than does the 170,000-square-foot terminal. Airport officials had wanted a minimum of 330,000 square feet in a new terminal - they originally proposed up to 465,000 - but faced opposition from Burbank residents concerned about noise and other issues. ``This is the best alternative for us, so we're making what hopefully can be viewed as a good-faith, best and last proposal . . . and we'll see where that takes us,'' said Authority Vice Chairman Chris Holden Holden, town (1990 pop. 14,628), Worcester co., central Mass., a residential suburb of Worcester; settled 1723, set off and inc. 1741. After a closed session Monday morning, the authority board voted 6-2 to submit the new proposal and application to the city of Burbank. Burbank city officials have wanted an enforceable curfew, not just a voluntary one, from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Airport officials ordered an extensive noise study in an effort to gain FAA approval for such a curfew, but said federal authorities might require some flexibility. ``It could be something a lot less'' than a curfew from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., Berlin said, ``and that wouldn't provide the relief that I think the businesses and residents of the city are looking for Looking for In the context of general equities, this describing a buy interest in which a dealer is asked to offer stock, often involving a capital commitment. Airport Authority officials have been trying to win city approval for a new terminal despite missing two recent deadlines to close a deal on land for the terminal before a third party buys the site. ``We can still salvage salvage, in maritime law, the compensation that the owner must pay for having his vessel or cargo saved from peril, such as shipwreck, fire, or capture by an enemy.
