The Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District is soliciting nominations for its fourth annual Achievement in Reducing Emissions awards. The awards recognize outstanding contributions toward the reduction or prevention of air pollution within the Antelope Valley. Eligible are businesses, industries, schools, agencies, organizations and individuals. Candidates must have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to clean air through the development of voluntary air pollution reduction or prevention programs. Nominated nom·i·nate tr.v. nom·i·nat·ed, nom·i·nat·ing, nom·i·nates 1. To propose by name as a candidate, especially for election. 2. To designate or appoint to an office, responsibility, or honor. entities and projects must be located within the air district's jurisdictional boundaries, which run from the Kern Kern, river, 155 mi (249 km) long, rising in the S Sierra Nevada Mts., E Calif., and flowing south, then southwest to a reservoir in the extreme southern part of the San Joaquin valley.
