The Antelope Valley
 Air Quality Management District is soliciting nominations for its fourth annual Achievement in Reducing Emissions awards.

The awards recognize outstanding contributions toward the reduction or prevention of air pollution within the Antelope Valley.

Eligible are businesses, industries, schools, agencies, organizations and individuals.

Candidates must have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to clean air through the development of voluntary air pollution reduction or prevention programs.

1. To propose by name as a candidate, especially for election.

2. To designate or appoint to an office, responsibility, or honor.
 entities and projects must be located within the air district's jurisdictional boundaries, which run from the Kern Kern, river, 155 mi (249 km) long, rising in the S Sierra Nevada Mts., E Calif., and flowing south, then southwest to a reservoir in the extreme southern part of the San Joaquin valley. The river has Isabella Dam as its chief facility.  County line to Wrightwood, and nominated individuals must reside within the district's boundaries.

, a federal conservationist, for his contributions to dust mitigation in the Antelope Valley; Greystone Homes/Somervale Estates, a Lancaster-based home builder, for exceptional dust mitigation efforts during construction; and Danone Waters of North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. , a bottled water distribution company, for establishing a fleet of liquefied petroleum gas-fueled delivery trucks in the Antelope Valley.

Nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. Aug. 15. The awards will be presented during National Pollution Prevention Week, Sept. 16-22.
