EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE Edwards Air Force Base, U.S. military installation, 301,000 acres (121,805 hectares), S Calif., NE of Lancaster; est. 1933. It is one of the largest air force bases in the United States and has the world's longest runway.  - Tens of thousands of aviation enthusiasts are expected to turn out Saturday for the annual open house and air show, where aerobatic and combat demonstrations and America's military might can be viewed up-close.

In keeping with the open house's theme of ``Yesterday's Heroes, Tomorrow's Legends,'' Edwards will have two of its heroes on hand - Chuck Yeager This page is currently protected from editing until disputes have been resolved.  and Joe Engle.
